What is Silver Seed?

More than
silver-coloured.

Silver Seed’s appearance comes from the development of a metallic silver surface, rather than simply the metallic-effect pigments used in conventional decorative paints.

Light, texture and the shape of the object all contribute to the finish. From reflective silver to a more aged character, the surface becomes part of the design itself.

Materials science, with a practical approach.

Silver Seed forms its metallic surface through a proprietary coating process. It does not require a vacuum metallisation chamber or the dedicated twin-nozzle silvering gun associated with many Tollens-type spray-silvering systems.

Conventional coating tools and infrared heating can be used as part of the process. Equipment and handling requirements are agreed for the intended application.

Patina offers an alternative to a uniformly bright finish: tonal depth, changing colour and a deliberately aged appearance.

Each finish should be considered through a physical sample. Colour, texture and variation are part of the design conversation—not a promise made by a screen.

Silver Seed is the subject of pending UK patent application GB 2603007.2, accepted onto the UK Intellectual Property Office’s Green Channel for accelerated processing. This is an application, not a granted patent; Green Channel acceptance is not environmental certification.

The formulation and processing know-how are not published. Commercial and licensing discussions can be explored without sharing confidential technical details on this website.

Environmental approach

Our ambition is to develop a greener route to decorative metallic finishes. The next step is to evaluate the complete system’s energy use, material consumption and waste against clearly defined alternatives.

A lower environmental impact has not yet been established through comparative testing. We will publish specific environmental benefits only where supported by evidence.
